Walking

High Lowscales’ drive is a public footpath – head south for Millom Castle, the Hodbarrow Nature Reserve and the beaches at Haverigg and Silecroft. Head north for Lowscales Bank and the Whicham Valley. High Lowscales is also next door to Millom Park, great for woodland walks. For more of a climb, try Black Combe (our nearest mountain, at 600m high) and neighbouring White Combe.

Nature

Seen from High Lowscales, the former iron ore workings at Hodbarrow is now Cumbria’s largest coastal lagoon and an RSPB Nature Reserve, great for walks and bird-watching. Also seen from the farm across the Duddon Estuary is Walney Island, home to 2 nature reserves.
